The annual event, which takes place at the Al DeWitt Officers’ Club, 641 W. Redline Blvd., Alameda Point, attracts up to 300 guests and raises funds for local charities. “We usually get a sellout crowd,” said Denise Gasti, club secretary and president-elect. “The proceeds of the event are so important to us and to the community.”. The club’s goal is to raise $20,000 at the chili cook-off, after raising $18,000 last year, according to Gasti. “The money we raise goes to our foundation, which gives out every penny to local nonprofits,” Gasti said.
